This is one of the most hyped-up mascaras online, famous for its "tubing" technology that promises length, volume, and easy removal. I bought it in the shade Brynn (Rich Black), and I had incredibly high hopes. While it has some definite pros, I was ultimately left feeling a little disappointed with the overall performance.
The initial application provides some impressive length, but I found the formula to be quite wet and prone to clumping. It's very difficult to build up layers without it starting to look spidery and sticking my lashes together. While my lashes looked great right after curling and applying, the curl completely fell within a couple of hours, leaving them looking long but straight and a bit droopy. This was the biggest letdown for me.
Pros & Cons
What I Love
- Extremely easy to remove with just warm water.
- Zero smudging or flaking throughout the day.
- Gives impressive initial length.
- The brand's mission to give back is commendable.
What to Consider
- Formula is clumpy and can create a "spidery" look.
- Does not hold a curl for more than a few hours.
- Difficult to apply a second coat without major clumping.
- Doesn't provide much volume.
Final Verdict
I really wanted to love the Thrive Causemetics mascara, and I can see why some people do—the easy removal is a dream come true. However, for me, the clumpy application and its complete inability to hold a curl are dealbreakers. If your lashes are naturally curly and you prioritize easy removal over all else, you might enjoy this. But if you rely on a mascara to keep your lashes lifted and separated all day, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
